Katherine is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Chicago in 2017 with degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry. While an undergraduate, Katherine performed research in the Snyder group. She completed her PhD in 2024 under the supervision of Professor Laura Kiessling studying the sugars found in the mycobacterial cell wall. She joined the McCallum group in November 2024. She is broadly interested in understanding how microbes deploy secondary metabolites to “talk” to each other. Outside of lab you can find Katherine needlepointing, reading, or exploring Pennsylvania.
